The Sunday After, previously called the Lyrical Takeover, is an annual collaboration between Lyrical Assembly and Oak Life Church, where they create space for a unique and inspiring event held at Oakstop in Oakland, California. It is a celebration of music and faith that brings together a diverse community of people to connect, worship, and express themselves through the power of poetry, music, hip-hop and storytelling.

You and I are privileged to be a part of the generation that decides what gets passed on. We have to build the church fo the future. So we're hosting a fundraiser dinner and conversation with Fred Harrell and others about what's in store for the future of church.

We've settled on the image of 'building' for the mode in which we are dreaming. There have been times and locations in human history where the community worked together for the future of the world. Lyrical Opposition @ September Arts and Culture Fest
The San Mateo County Office of Arts and Culture and the San Mateo Area Chamber of Commerce are pleased to present the September Arts & Culture Fest – the best street festival on the Peninsula. This day-long event features LOCAL musicians, entertainment and cultural performances, artists and craft-makers, cuisine from around the world, wine and beer, and family-friendly activities in the heart of downtown San Mateo. Re-Entrification Film Screening + Discussion
Re-Entrification is a feature-length documentary film that tells the story of residents that have been displaced from their homes due to the city’s high cost of living. Tiny homes became a sanctuary where families can have the fundamental human right of a home. This film tells their story on how they made the decision to seek this type of support. Re-Entrification sheds light on the housing crisis in the Bay Area.
Re-Entrification means being able to move back into communities and neighborhoods that a person is originally from. It’s the way to bring back its history, beauty, struggle, pain – the soul. Re-Entrification is to create and reclaim sustainable economic structures that allow people living in the neighborhoods to thrive within their own neighborhood; to recapture the native essence of that place.
Doors open at 6pm SATURDAY MARCH 9TH. Capacity is limited.
Film program starts promptly at 6:30pm which included a question and response time with the filmmakers and special guests.
BraveMaker is HQ’d at Sequoia Church in Redwood City and has a cinema quality screen, project and AV system.
Parking is in the large parking lot found at 1840 Harding Ave/Cross St Topaz St.

Eric Dolan, curator for the Bay Area Poetry Marathon, writes puke-pop nonsense for the disenfranchised masses; he has written, designed, and built sixty-three booklets of poetry since moving to California. Salvadoran-American rapper/actor Fego Navarro’s recent projects include releasing his album Heart of Man and acting in the film Love Cecy. Heaven Is All Goodbyes, the most recent book by poet, movement worker, and educator Tongo Eisen-Martin, was shortlisted for the Griffin Poetry Prize and won both a California Book Award and an American Book Award.
